We just ran into a situation in which we tried to email an active user on one
of our forums, only to learn that their email address is no longer active or
valid.
Apparently, this users email preference is set to "Web Only" and they
participate on a regular basis from web interface.
Under such circumstances, it is possible for a user to maintain an active
account without any valid email on file - since absent any email delivery,
their address will never bounce and never become unverified.
This seems like a problem?
Does Groupserver have any mechanism to help detect such accounts?
If not, should it? And what would it look like?
Should "web only" users get a "test" email every 1-3 months intended to detect
whether or not their address on file is valid?
Is it always important to have a valid email for every user?
Curious if I'm missing something or what others think about thisโฆโฆ
