Hi All,
The job we have envisioned for GroupServer is to take over as list server for
an established, currently "webless" email list. Part of that process is import
the existing users (which is under control thanks to CSV), and then to import
some portion of the old messages (which go back 17 years I think).
My first attempts piping fetchmail to smtp2gs have been pretty successful (and,
BTW, I think it would make making GS a POP client pretty trivial - I'll write
that up later), but I'm sure I could make some better progress if I can pick
some of the finer brains around.
The first thing I'm wondering, before I waste everyone's time is: is there a
guide for doing this already written up somewhere that I've just failed to
find?
If not, some of the things I'm wondering if I can do are:
• is there any sort of global "suppress all emails" switch somewhere that I
could use to get this stuff in quietly? My current workaround is just to get
Postfix to use a dead relay
• even better for me would be a "quietly create user and quietly add message"
type method - is there one handy already?
• is there a way to force GS to stamp the post with the time in the email,
rather than the time added to the Db?
• is there anyone who has already done something like this, and if so do they
have any other tips to share.
Thanks for your time.
